Maybe relationships are compression
Perhaps relationship state is best understood as a compressed sufficient statistic over interaction history, not a special architecture.
A lot of what I originally wanted Relational Belief States to explicitly store may be better understood as a compressed sufficient statistic over interaction history.
That reframing matters. It shifts the research target away from defending a named architecture and toward asking what information social continuity requires, who owns that state, how it changes, and what can be safely forgotten.
The strongest version of the idea may therefore be representational and evaluative rather than architectural: measure the smallest inspectable state that preserves socially important behaviour under real memory and compute constraints.
